There are so many things I love about sneakers. Whether it's endless variety, top notch design, various sneaker subcultures, or sneaker history, there are so many things to appreciate. However, one of the best things about them that am constantly reminded of is their versatility. While the following sneakers are releasing in the fall and I am judging them on their fall appropriateness, they could all be pulled off basically year round with similar results.
Now that September is over halfway through, here are my picks from releases this month (past and upcoming). All photos from sneakernews.com
3. New Balance x Reigning Champ 530
Release Date: September 3
Brief: As you probably know, the month of September opened with the supa-hot fire Jordan 1 "Banned" release, however you may not know that these underappreciated gems also dropped the same day. NB's are always one of my go-to's for comfort and these are just as comfortable on the eyes. I got the Reigning Champ Gel Lyte IIIs last winter and if these are even half as good then I would definitely recommend giving them a try.
Price: $190 CAD
Where to Buy: The best part? You can still buy them right now in almost every size from deadstock.ca
2. Adidas x Mastermind NMD
Release Date: September 20
Brief: Admittedly, I'm not a superfan of the NMD like almost everybody else right now. I think it's a great shoe, sure, and I appreciate the story behind it, but you'll never find me waiting in line or spending $200+ on a pair (Ultraboosts on the other hand, probably). This pair, however, might be an exception. the material updates and Mastermind branding just do something special that makes this shoe extra hot for the fall season.
Price: ~$270 CAD
Where to Buy: No definite answer as of now, but check adidas.ca, deadstock.ca, and capsuletoronto.com
1. Nike Zoom Spiridon "metallic gold"
Release Date: September 7
Brief: My top favourite of recent releases might currently be the most lowkey hot sneaker of 2016. The original shoe from 1997 has returned in a new fall pop-colour to slightly stand out in the yellow leaves. While it will earn you definite street cred, it's not hot enough yet to be widely available. But that's all part of the thrill
Price: ~$220 CAD (if you can find it at retail)
Where to Buy: As of now it seems Canadians might be SOL beyond paying resale and shipping prices
