By now, pretty much everybody is in full winter mode and subsequently full winter holiday mode. Even if you're still physically at work over the holidays, chances are you've long since mentally checked out. With this milestone comes more freedom for you to dress how you like over this coveted holiday period. However, with this likely also comes less desire to spend of said free time deciding what to wear, and more of it actually enjoying your holidays.
That's where I come in. With a wardrobe courtesy of European-based Jack & Jones, this mini-lookbook is here to show you two similar modern updates on basic, yet sharp, holiday casual dressing, using simple and accessible outfit staples. If you've been throwing on the same basic sweater-jacket-jeans combo for your winter break for the past five years or more, check out these updates for inspiration on how to push your casual winter style while remaining in comfortable territory.
Look 1: The Modern Winter Classic
Pretty much all of these pieces have been around in mainstream menswear since before you were born. The neutral-colour peacoat, the oatmeal sweater, the red check flannel, the rugged pants, and the boots. But new fits and iterations have kept them fresh and on point. The peacoat is slimmer, the sweater has a subtle texture, and the pants have a slight lower taper. If you gravitate toward more traditional and functional casual 'fits, this combo is for you.
Look 2: The Winter Street Casual
A step further and bolder on the spectrum is this street-inspired modern casualwear 'fit. Once again, making use of tried and true wardrobe staples, this outfit goes a step further and puts some more modern streetwear tropes into play like the all-dark tonal colour scheme and the high top retro sneakers. Once again, subtle textured sweaters are a big hit right now, and pulling a bold move like the all-blue tone wardrobe just might earn you the right to wearing contrast-white sneakers in the winter.
