Grey Day Downtown

Took a stroll downtown yesterday with my good friend Marc LeClair who runs local business Dapper Detailing and the Beauty & the Bowtie blog. The weather was a bit overcast, but we had a great time visiting some menswear stores and finding a few cool backdrops to shoot. Marc is all about the bowties and as such, he put together a really good traditionally-inspired outfit today to complement that with some brogues and patterned pants and a black leather jacket for a bit of modern sharpness. Right away that morning I knew I wanted to wear a pair of eye-catching pants to cut through the day’s greyness, so I pulled a few simple, American-inspired staples like the barn-style jacket and the Jack Purcells to keep everything grounded.

I love shooting down in the city as we always get the funny remarks both from menswear enthusiasts and business professionals and sometimes exchange some fun brief chats. I think my favorite one yesterday was from two three-piece suit wearing gents asking if we were “vacationing stockbrokers or male models (or both).” Beyond our usual automotive conversations, Marc and I also had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with one of the biggest local influencers in the Calgary menswear scene. Stay tuned for the photos of who it was and what we talked about, and in the meantime check out some of the pics from yesterday below.

My outfit: Shoes by Converse (converse.com). Pants by Club Monaco (clubmonaco.ca). Shirt and jacket by Frank & Oak (frankandoak.com). Sweater by Express (express.com)
